Development of projects for the requalification of Largo das Galinheiras and Estrada Militar, in Lisbon, promoted by SRU – Sociedade de Reabilitação Urbana. The intervention takes place in a transitional area between consolidated Lisbon and the territories of urban expansion, marked by an accelerated urbanization process in recent decades, but where references to the old rural landscape of the Lisbon suburbs remain.
The project sought to establish a balanced relationship between preserving the identity of the place and creating a public space capable of meeting the contemporary needs of the city, reinforcing the role of Largo das Galinheiras as a central meeting and social space for the community, improving the connection between the garden, the playground, the school, public transport and other existing facilities in the surrounding area.
