Winner of the public design competition for the redevelopment of Largo das Galinheiras and Estrada Militar in Lisbon, commissioned by SRU (Urban Rehabilitation Society).
This project is part of the “Há Vida no Meu Bairro” (There’s Life in My Neighborhood) program, which “seeks to develop a series of public space interventions that promote walking, ensuring that essential urban functions within neighborhoods are within easy walking distance.” The aim is to create safer and more inclusive streets, improve accessibility to public transport and local facilities, and ensure smooth mobility and flow for both pedestrians and traffic.
The proposed design seeks to diversify the range of outdoor spaces by integrating various functions into the public realm. Accordingly, the project includes the creation of a plaza that allows for flexible use of outdoor areas while preserving existing tree cover; it also integrates public transport routes, as the plaza will continue to serve as a terminus or interchange point.
Intervention area: 10.400 m² | 2025 | Under development | 1st Place in Public Competition
